School Energy Meters

11 Feb 2010
Under a scheme launched by the Government this week, local schools can apply for a free digital ‘energy display meter’ to help join in the fight against climate change and at the same time save money.

These free energy display meters are a great idea. They monitor energy use and display real-time information on a computer screen. This will allow teachers and pupils to see how much energy is being consumed in their school and the difference they can make by changing their behaviour.

The display screens have been specifically designed to be used in the classroom, and have features such as graphics and characters to help make the subject of energy use interesting to children of all ages. Schools can register their application at www.teachernet.gov.uk/energydisplaymeter
