Earlier today I attended the launch of the British Lung Foundation’s Children’s Charter. The Charter highlights the importance of improving children’s lung health, in addition to the care and treatment offered to children with lung disease and their parents.

I was shocked to hear that 4 million people in the UK still continue to smoke near children and that around 17,000 children under five years old in England and Wales are admitted to hospital each year due to illness caused by their parents smoking.

The Charter will help raise awareness of these issues and also encourage a new generation of people to think about their lung health.
