Visit To Wickersley Community Pharmacy

Earlier today I visited a local pharmacy in Wickersley where I was able to meet with staff and observe pharmacy health services in practice.

Having recently become Chair of the All-Party Pharmacy Group I was particularly interested to see the pharmacy’s application of medicine use reviews and their minor ailments scheme. Medicine use reviews can help patients to manage their medicines more effectively while the treatment of minor ailments in a community pharmacy can save the NHS money by freeing up GP appointment time.

Community pharmacies are going to play an increasingly important future role in the prevention and treatment of disease locally and in public health more widely across the country.
