Last week I had a positive and constructive meeting with Lord Hill, the Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Schools, to discuss the future rebuilding of Maltby Academy.

I was able to explain to him how old some of the current buildings are, I think that part of the school that was the Secondary Modern opened in 1923 and part of the building that was the old Grammar School opened in 1931. The other build on there was the 1960s building that was known as the science block which was closed as unfit to use a number of years ago.

I therefore invited Lord Hill to come along and have a look to see the needs for the rebuild. The original plans were for an 85% rebuild on the site but clearly the decision to not move the special educational needs on the site and the junior and infant school will mean that needs will be different.
