/ New Transport Schemes Are Vital For Rother Valley
21 Oct 2010
Last week, alongside fellow South Yorkshire MPs, I attended a meeting with Transport Minister Norman Baker to discuss the future of essential transport schemes in our region. I had previously written to Mr Baker about the two schemes in the Rother Valley, the Waverley Link Road project and the A57 Todwick Crossroads scheme, seeking assurance that they will be safeguarded.
At the meeting I stressed the importance of the Link Road for relieving pressure on the surrounding road network and also outlined how crucial the A57 scheme is for road safety improvements and the continuing regeneration of Dinnington.
Now that the Comprehensive Spending Review has been unveiled by the Chancellor we will have to wait and see how the detail of it impacts on vital schemes such as these.
We will also find out in the coming weeks and months exactly how the spending cuts will affect our public services in the Rother Valley.
