I have written to the Chief Executive of Rotherham Hospital to demand urgent answers after the Government told hospitals across England to cut more costs this year, and for the next four years. The pressure for deeper cutbacks comes as part of the Government's massive NHS reorganisation.
The Prime Minister promised to ‘protect the NHS’, but we are already starting to see it going backwards again. He also promised the NHS a real rise in funding but there is a £1 billion shortfall this year, as well as nearly £2 billion pledged for patient care being held back to cover the cost of the NHS reorganisation. I am very concerned about the impact of this funding pressure and that is why I want to know what this means for our hospital.
