Despite all the protests earlier this year, it looks as though the Government still intends to sell off 15 per cent of the public forest estate, regardless of what their recently established Independent Panel on Forestry says.

The Panel has been set up to advise the Government on the future of England’s forests and woods by April 2012 and is currently asking for peoples’ views on the matter.

I would urge as many people as possible to contact the Panel to express your opinions about this proposed sell-off of our forests.

You can get in touch with the Panel by visiting or by writing to Secretariat to the Independent Panel on Forestry, Defra, Nobel House, 17 Smith Square, London, SW1P 3JR.

The deadline for public submissions to the Panel is 31 July.
