Concerns About Health And Social Care Bill

Many concerned Rother Valley residents have again contacted me to voice their opposition to the Government's NHS proposals.

Whilst it is true that changes have been made to the Health and Social Care Bill in the last few months, they merely make the NHS plans more complex, more costly and more confused. Millions of pounds will be wasted on new bureaucracy when it could and should be spent on patient care.

Unfortunately the essential elements of the Government’s long-term plans to see the NHS broken up as a national public service, and set up as a full-scale market, are still in place.

I have fought the plans at every stage in the House of Commons, including last week when I voted against the Bill at its third reading. I will continue to do all I can to oppose this fundamental and far-reaching reorganisation of the NHS.
