Unfortunately, the fall out over the future of the NHS is continuing to rumble on.

It appears that several hospitals that were told they would be safe before the last general election now appear to be facing closure, including one that the Prime Minister promised he would defend in a “bare-knuckle fight”.

Not only are hospitals facing departmental closures, but they are also having to make huge efficiency savings. I spoke in last week's health debate and asked the Minister: “Why is competition law being introduced into clinical services?”. This is a question I have asked before, and which yet again, has not been answered clearly.

I genuinely believe that the introduction of competition law is a threat to the NHS as we know it.
