The Independent Panel on Forestry has published its final report detailing their recommendations on the future direction of forestry and woodland policy in England.
One of the Panel’s recommendations is that the public forest estate should continue to benefit from public ownership.
Over half a million people signed a petition last year against the Government’s plans to sell off England’s forests. Therefore I welcome the Government’s announcement that they will not now sell off 15% of the forests as they had originally planned.
I hope that this report marks a new beginning for our forests and that organisations will work together to protect biodiversity, create more woodland and secure access for future generations to enjoy.
