The Prime Minister last week promised to legislate to force the energy companies to put all customers on the cheapest tariff.
Within 24 hours this policy had completely unravelled as the Government had to admit they couldn't do it. Now they are saying they want to put households on the cheapest tariff but don't know how.
I would like to see a complete overhaul of our energy market to break the dominance of the big six energy companies and also the creation of a tough new watchdog with powers to force energy companies to pass on price cuts.
Until we see real action from the Government, the Prime Minister’s warm words in the House of Commons will be cold comfort to millions of families worried about how they will pay their energy bills this winter.
