The Financial Ombudsman Service is a free service set up by law with the power to sort out problems between consumers and financial businesses.

During 2012, 1,330 people living in the Rother Valley contacted their helpline, which led to them taking on 694 complaints which required investigation. At the moment the Service is currently upholding around 44% of complaints from the Rother Valley in favour of the consumer. This meant they found that the business had not treated the consumer fairly, which resulted in the business paying some form of compensation.

The top five most complained about products from people living in our area last year were PPI, credit card accounts, house mortgages, current accounts and motor insurance.
