A number of local schools have recently been awarded grants through the Big Lottery Fund’s Awards for All programme.
Dinnington St Joseph's Primary School will use £7,800 to provide a breakfast club before school for pupils and their families; providing a healthy breakfast and stimulating environment for pupils, improving attendance and concentration at school.
A grant of £9,440 has been awarded to Aston Fence Junior and Infant School who will use the funding to engage with pupils and their families by delivering a series of family learning activities such as healthy eating, assisting their children with their learning and creative educational activities.
Treeton Primary School are to use £9,780 to run healthy eating and cookery workshops after school and during holidays for pupils and families with a focus on cooking as a family to improve health and wellbeing.
While Aston Lodge Primary School will use £8,230 of funding to run after school and holiday activity sessions such as football, multi-sports, circuits, combat and dance workshops, for the benefit of children at the school.
Dinnington Comprehensive School have been awarded £9,700 to run out of school hours family learning workshops and fun days to engage the families of new Year 7 students and the families of Year 6 students from the feeder primary schools. This will improve the literacy and parenting skills of local parents whose children need extra-curricular learning support.
