The Department for Transport have provided an update on the planned start of construction work for the M1 junctions 32 to 35a scheme.

They have advised that the implementation of this managed motorway scheme has been delayed to allow the completion of statutory processes and an ongoing environmental assessment. Major safety concerns about their plans to use the hard shoulder as a live lane twenty four hours a day, seven days a week, continue to remain.

The Department have also advised that they intend to carry out some maintenance renewal works to the central barrier and verge on this section of the M1 during the early summer months.
