The Highways Agency are soon to undertake renewal works to the central reserve barrier on the M1 between junctions 30 and 31.
This will involve construction of a hardened central reserve rigid concrete barrier. This work will be undertaken within the existing motorway boundary and once complete, will result in safety benefits for motorists. The Highways Agency expects the renewal work to start in September 2013.
The M1 will be kept open while the work is underway to minimise disruption. However, to protect road workers some lane closures will be necessary. Whilst the majority of the work is focused on the central reservation there will be a requirement for specific verge work to install drainage attenuation and some traffic management tools, such as CCTV.
