The Department for Transport last week published a compensation and assistance package for owner-occupiers of properties close to the proposed route of HS2 between London and the West Midlands (Phase One).
They have advised that the decisions and proposals announced last week represent the starting point for those packages, however they cannot promise at this stage that the equivalent package for Phase Two will be the same (or different).
The Exceptional Hardship Scheme remains available to support property owners around the Phase Two route they consulted on last year. The scheme enables those who have a compelling reason to sell, but are unable to do so because of the HS2 proposals, to sell their homes to the Government. Full details of the scheme are available from HS2 Ltd at: www.hs2.org.uk/developing-hs2/property/exceptional-hardship-scheme-phase-two
