This Saturday I am pleased to be attending Kiveton Park and Wales’ First World War Commemoration.

The commemoration day, which is being hosted by the local History Society, will see a re-enactment of the sign-up event when 89 local men enlisted, followed by a send-off parade through the village. There is also a community exhibition being held in the Village Hall, with the Royal British Legion, Todwick and Harthill History Societies and other local groups also involved.

I would like to thank everyone who has contributed to organising these events, which will be a fitting tribute to those who lived, fought and died in the First World War.
